Other funding opportunities

There are a number of other internal schemes for translational research projects, as well as recurring calls from external funders.

Our team of translational research managers collate information on internal schemes and can provide support for applications to external funders.

You can find information on both internal and external schemes in the sections below. To request support for an external funding bid, contact the Translation Manchester team:

This is a summary of all other devolved funding schemes that could support your translational research projects, and the relevant contacts.

Cross-faculty research consortia call.

These awards aim at fostering cross-faculty interdisciplinary biomedical research. The purpose is to pump-prime new activity that addresses the important biomedical problems, through collaboration between groups of principal investigators with distinctive skills, for major external funding.

Closed – awaiting next round

The fund aims to overcome the bottleneck to the establishment of new collaborations by supporting early interactions and knowledge exchange between industry and academic researchers. The competition is structured around two schemes, Relationship Incubator and Industry Secondment, and invites applications from across the biomedical field, including but not limited to:

  • therapeutics
  • medical devices
  • diagnostics
