Translational Research Skills Training portal

Together with colleagues within the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), Translation Manchester has developed an online training portal to upskill academics in key skills needed to translate their findings into healthcare interventions and new pathways to the benefit of patients and society.

Based on the success of the Innovator Training Scheme the course focuses on non-traditional skills and topics, such as developing an entrepreneurial mindset, securing translational funding, collaborating with industry, creating impact from healthcare research and much more. The portal offers video content in the form of bite sized videos and full webinars. Additionally, the portal is enriched by interactive quizzes, reflective exercises and links to additional resources.

In addition to the modules from the original innovator training scheme, the portal features additional training modules on research impact, medical devices, software as medical devices as well ad drug discovery and development. Some of the training is delivered by external consultants specifically hired by the Translation Manchester team.

The content of the training portal is continuously updated with new materials/modules. Live training opportunities are also promoted via the portal.
