Translational Research at Manchester 2025: Registrations Open
Join us to celebrate the successes of Translation Manchester, and to hear about the path forward for translational research support at the University of Manchester
2025 marks the sixth anniversary since the launch of Translation Manchester. It is also the final year of the Wellcome Trust Translational Partnership Award (TPA), which concludes in July 2025.
Translation Manchester are delighted to announce that we will be hosting our annual event “Translational Research at Manchester 2025” on 18th June 2025, where we will focus on “celebrating successes in translational research and paving the path forward” for translational research in Manchester.
Since its establishment, Translation Manchester has provided translational research support to the University of Manchester, facilitating the advancement of the University’s scientific discoveries towards delivering improved healthcare.
We have achieved this by investing an excess of £3m to pump prime >100 projects across the University, which secured >£22m in follow-on grant funding. This investment supported several commercialisation activities including the incorporation of 7 spin out companies which received major venture capital seed funding. We created the ‘Translation Manchester Research Network (TMRN)’ as the one-stop-shop for all translational research support needs. We provided training in non-traditional skills such as entrepreneurship, industry engagement, intellectual property, and much more. Together with our partners at the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre and the Christabel Pankhurst Institute, we developed the Translational Research Skills Portal and the Pankhurst Health Technology Translation Toolkit, respectively. Alongside Research IT we developed Research Connections, a portal designed to enable connections across the University, the NHS and industry.
We are thrilled to invite our vibrant translational research community to join us in celebrating these remarkable achievements, gain insights from impactful case studies, and pave the path forward for translational research at the University and beyond.
The programme will include:
- Presentations from Translation Manchester awardees
- Networking Opportunities over Lunch
- Trade stands from TMRN partners
- Poster competition (with voucher prizes!)
- Inspirational Key-note presentation
- Prize announcements and drinks reception with canapes
There will be plenty of networking opportunities, >30 trade stands from partners of the Translation Manchester Research Network, a poster competition with voucher prizes, an inspirational keynote presentation, and a drinks reception with canapés. We will also hear from the new FBMH Dean, Professor Ashley Blom!
